06. Once you get a job, think seriously about where you want to go.
I graduated from university and started working at a bank in 1982. I was based in Marunouchi. My job involved all sorts of things related to current accounts, which are corporate settlement accounts. I had an abstract understanding of banks, in that they had certain social functions and responsibilities, but when I got inside, it wasn't like that at all. It was a world of numbers, of acquiring new deposits and achieving loan targets.
