02. The process of shoemaking that I learned naturally through seeing.
Our workshop manufactured stiletto pumps and supplied them to a high-end women's shoe store in Ginza. Through that retailer, my father made shoes for Empress Michiko (Empress Emerita Michiko) from 1960 to 1970. Perhaps because of this connection, wealthy people would occasionally come to have their shoes custom-made. They would even go out of their way to come to that filthy workshop (laughs).
