Who is wearing what? It's all the more interesting when it comes to T-shirts, because T-shirts are both fashion and a communication tool. Whenever I see Kawamura Kosuke on social media or meet him, I can't help but check out what kind of T-shirt he's wearing, so I thought I might as well have him featured in this series. There's a famous catchphrase that goes "Memories over things," but in this case, things = memories. For Kawamura, and maybe for you too, T-shirts are life.

Vol.02 FUNNY FARM T-shirt

It was when I had just moved to Tokyo and was nobody.

This arrived from Mercari in the morning of the day of the shoot (a certain day in October 2025) (lol). The address of the Funny Farm store was not made public at the time. I had never been to the store, but when I was 20 years old and hanging out at the Vandalize office almost every day, Ichinose-san told me, "Funny Farm used to be here." It was super close to where the Vandalize store was last located (along Cat Street around Jingumae 3-chome).

The year I moved to Tokyo, I got an iMac and thought it was so cool, but I didn't know how to use it, so I started messing around on my own and eventually managed to make stickers. My friend and I were able to make something we were pretty happy with, but even if we wanted to show it to someone, we didn't know anyone. At the time, there was a place called Liquid Dream in Kabukicho, Shinjuku (it closed in January 2004 and moved to its current location in Ebisu). I'd occasionally hang out at the regular events that Naohiro Ukawa and Eye held, and I thought I'd give them the stickers there and have them take a look. But the events were about seven hours straight, and I didn't have the nerve to hand them over (wry smile). It was a huge hurdle for a kid from the countryside to join the Tokyo community back then.

So, I was about to give up and go home for the day when I noticed someone wearing sunglasses at the entrance to Liquid Dream. My friend and I thought, "Isn't that Ichinose from Vandaraize?" I was a huge fan of Vandaraize to begin with, and Ichinose was alone, so I called out to him and gave him some paper sticker designs I'd cut out at home. I'd kept it in my pocket for so long that it had gotten really thin, but he said, "That's really cool. But this isn't a sticker. Come hang out at the office with it sometime." He was so kind. I was so happy to be praised by such a famous person! But we couldn't exchange contact information or ask for his address, so I wondered where I should go.
