"Style Resume" is a series of interviews with adults who literally have style. Updated every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, the eighth installment features photographer Osamu Nagahama. His subjects are people who go beyond the norm of the world and live their lives to the fullest, and he explores the values that he has been looking into for more than half a century.
03. When I was a student at an art school, I was immersed in modern jazz and movies.
I've loved jazz ever since listening to swing jazz and big band jazz by Duke Ellington and Count Basie on FEN when I was a child. Speaking of music, I watched the movie "Bang" (1955) in my second year of junior high school and liked the theme song, "Rock Around The Clock," which was a rock 'n' roll song. After that, Elvis Presley appeared, but I didn't go for him and instead listened to jazz. At that time, jazz trends were changing rapidly, which was interesting. Coleman Hawkins, Lester Young, Charlie Parker, Zoot Sims, Stan Getz, Dexter Gordon...I guess I've always loved the "flute" (saxophone).
