Shakespeare and Company is known as the legendary bookstore frequented by Ernest Hemingway and William Burroughs.
It opened in 1921, but closed in 1941 during World War II as it was difficult to continue in Paris under German occupation. The second Shakespeare and Company opened on Paris's Left Bank in 1951, and it remains a cultural landmark and a dream destination for literature lovers.
