13. The scope of my work expanded in the early 2000s.
Fujii Fumiya was appointed producer of the Nagoya City Pavilion at the Aichi Expo (2005) and asked me to help out. During a meeting at my house, Fumiya said, "I want to make a huge kaleidoscope." At the time, I was living in the room next to Koba-chan's (Kobayashi Setsumasa, CEO of RESEARCH) office, and I happened to have seen a large kaleidoscope at his place, so I went next door to borrow one. That's how "Tower of the Earth" came to be. This kind of work also started as a chance encounter at a club like GOLD. Young people today rely mainly on social media, but back in our day, you couldn't experience or meet people unless you actually went there.
