REGULAR

Whether it's fashion, music, or sports, there is a style that only each person can have in any genre. "Style is Everything." That's right, someone said that style is everything. "Style Resume" is a series of interviews with adults who literally have style. Updated every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, the first episode will feature TUBE's Saito Hisao as a guest.

03. Working part-time to buy the clothes I like.

Around the middle of high school, I started hanging out in Ginza and it was definitely "clothes first, girls second". My style at that time was comporat. I would look for suits made of iridescent or shiny fabrics in second-hand clothes and wear them. I would go to "Sakaeya" in Koibumi Yokocho in Shibuya, Yokohama, and Yokosuka. I had a lot of fun talking about clothes with my fellow guys. We were what we would call otaku now. It was cute (laughs).

The guys from Hibiya who I hung out with at first would make the girls buy clothes for me, but I didn't do that, so I had to scrape together money to buy clothes. So I did a lot of part-time jobs. The first one I did was as a doorman at a coffee shop in Ikebukuro when I was in high school. It's hard to imagine now, but the more upscale coffee shops had doormen.

After I dropped out of college, I was unemployed, but my friend's family ran a real estate agency, and I don't know the details, but they owned the rights to Toppan Printing's paper drying department. So they asked me to help out there if I had free time. I did that for about a year and a half, and it made quite a bit of money. It was a million and a half yen at the time. My friend bought a car with it, but I was thinking about what I should spend it on...and then I heard that a "Men's Fashion College" was opening. I like clothes and I had free time, so I thought I'd go, and I used the money I earned from my part-time job to pay for the school's entrance fees, tuition, and to buy clothes I liked.
