Whether it's fashion, music, or sports, there is a style that only each person can express in any genre. "Style is Everything." That's right, someone once said that style is everything. "Style Resume" is a series of interviews with adults who, as the name suggests, have style. Updated every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, the 13th installment features music critic, radio DJ, and organizer of the DJ event "LONDON NITE," which will celebrate its 45th anniversary in 2025.

09. It was Takeshi Matsuyama who paved the way for me to become a music critic.

As I continued working on record reviews for "an an," I was also given the opportunity to work on other pages. At the time, many people came in and out of the editorial department, and I was introduced to them, but the person who undoubtedly paved the way for me as a music critic was Takeshi Matsuyama (lyricist, writer, editor). Before I got to speak to him directly, I asked someone at the editorial department who he was, and they told me he was the lyricist for the Folk Crusaders' "Yopparai ga Kaettekita" (1967). I was surprised, thinking, "Wow, he's such a famous guy!" I had always thought he was just an old guy (laughs). But he was very stylishly dressed. There was nothing folksy about him, he was sophisticated, and to me it was a different culture.
