Whether it's fashion, music, or sports, there is a style that only each person can have in any genre. "Style is Everything." That's right, someone said that style is everything. "Style Resume" is a series of interviews with adults who literally have style. Updated every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, the commemorative 10th installment features Matsutoya Masataka, who is known for his wide-ranging activities as a musician, but is also known as a lover of cars, watches, and fashion. Let's learn about Matsutoya Masataka's style from his words and photos in a total of 13 installments in June.

12. About my work with Yumi Matsutoya and Mica Music Laboratory.

There are two things I feel proud of as turning points in Yumi's project. The first was when I brought in Shizuka Ijuin (a writer who passed away two years ago) shortly after marrying Yumi. The second was when I appointed a student who used to come to my house as the president of my company. When I asked him, "Is there anything you want to do?" he said, "I want Hipgnosis to do the record jacket." That's how "See You Last Night" (1981) came to fruition.

In "Koujaku" (1978), I put forward the concept of an "adult woman," but it wasn't accepted by the public, and sales plummeted. It was a time right after I got married, when I felt a sense of responsibility. In 1990, "King of Heaven" became a hit, shipping 2 million copies, and I think that put pressure on her, but not on me at all. I was already thinking about what to do next, and I wanted to make that album sound better.
