The word "daypack" comes from the Japanese word for "day" (1 day) and "pack" (bag). Nowadays, we think of it as something for everyday use, but did you know that its roots lie in the outdoors? It was created by Dick Kelty. That's right, he is the founder of the American outdoor brand Kelty. In the 1970s, as a true outdoorsman, he created a daypack that was more compact than a backpack for climbers who were challenging rock walls. The common pig nose design is a detail called an ice axe holder, which is used to secure and carry an ice axe, which is essential when it's snowing. Incidentally, it was Dick who developed the world's first backpack. Without him, the culture of backpacking may not have been born.
As mentioned above, backpack and daypack are words that came from America. And rucksack is of German origin. Although there is a difference in image, they are almost equal, like T-shirts and cut-and-sewn, craft beer and local beer, IKKO and Kazuyuki Toyota. In fact, even if you look at the online stores of select shops, they are often lumped together as "rucksacks". So, this time we have defined daypacks as those with a capacity of about 20 to 30 liters, which is convenient for short trips, and have listed 25 items that we found interesting.
